Have you ever noticed how our grandparents look at us when we talk about our life or our problems? That is because the time is different therefore theworld and the society are different, maybe their life was not as easy as ours, or simply they don’t understand what we are saying. The fact is that there are remarkable differences betweengenerations. “old people” as we call them, used to do different things and in this research report, after an exhausting investigation about the culture of our grandparents and parents, I am going to talk aboutthe 1950’s, the 1980’s and 2010 hobbies, specially what they used to do in their summer vacations. During the 1950’s, the time where most of our grandparents were teenagers, was a very religious time,where kids had to go to the church every Sunday and women were less important than men
Feeling was all over capitalistic world, religion and conservatism were a sing of rejection of communism andliberalism, and as a result, family union was really strong. Families worked together, played together and vacationed together at family themed entertainment areas such as national parks and forAmerican families form middle to upper class the new Disneyland Park was the perfect destination. Road trips were very popular in a lot of nations too especially in the U.S.A. Meanwhile in Colombia kidswent to the family farm according to my grandmother, Lilia Ruiz de Franco. In the other hand little kids played with their friends and brothers as many declarant said, games like “lleva”, hide and seekor jaimee were the favorite by the kids in Colombia but in the united states girls played with Barbie dolls and boys with action figures. In addition teenagers in this time were highly influenced byJames Dean in the movie “Rebel without a cause”; as a result they were rebel and defied their parents.
