According to BBC News genocide is the mass extermination of a whole group of people, anattempt to destroy an entire group and wipe them out of existence. This is what the Nazis did to about six million European Jews, from 1941 to 1945(Niewyk, Donald L. The Columbia Guide to theHolocaust). Now a days the legacy of the most important genocide in the world still is in the common knowledge of a lot of people, but this sometimes is not any good because it may serve as an inspiration or anexample to follow like the genocide taking place in Darfur, a region located in Western Sudan in Northern Africa.
The Nazis wanted to kill lots of people not just involving Jews, but also membersof resistance groups, homosexuals, dissenting Christians, Gypsies, mentally retarded, Soviet prisoners of war, anti-Nazi clergy, trade unionists, and psychiatric patients, and they did this justbecause they thought they were racially inferior than the Germans . Now a day’s something similar is happening in Darfur were two million Darfurians were moved from their houses and were about 180,000people have been killed (History Today).
