Presidents of Panama from 1904-2015
As president of the Municipal Council of the District of Panama it was the honor of communicating, by means of respective dated trades on November 4, 1903, the appointment of Mr. Jose Agustin Arango,Federico Boyd and Tomas Arias to serve on a Provisional Board Government to the people entrusted with the administration, management and direction of business, temporarily, and while the Republic was constituted. Later it was chosen as the first constitutional President Manuel Amador Guerrero.
Demetrio Brid, who the night of November 3, 1903 became the first president of the Republic of Panama,signed the initial document, signed the act on day 3, chaired the council of the 4th meeting of its Council, signed the He signed the Declaration of Independence and the appointment of the Provisional Governing Board.
Today the President of Panama is the Head of State and Government of Panama and heads the executive branch of the country, is elected by popular vote for a period of 5 years.
Togetherwith his vice presidents in a list, they are elected by direct suffrage for a period of 5 years without immediate reelection. They help in their tasks of government ministers meeting in the Council of Government headed by President of the Republic.
