1. RESUMEN
La región en donde se sitúo la zona de estudio, está localizada en la parte central
de la Cordillera Oriental de los Andes y en ella afloran rocas desde el Cretácico
Inferior al Cuaternario Aluvión, en las cuales se evidencian diferentes condiciones
de sedimentación. En esta regiónencontramos principalmente rocas
sedimentarias, estas rocas afloran gracias a la depositacion de sedimento en
ambientes de aguas someras, en donde es muy notorio el principio de
superposición de capas casi horizontales con ligeros buzamientos. La abundancia
de especímenes de Fósiles genera un atractivo en esta región . Las secuencias
estratigráficas aflorantes se encuentran cubiertasconcordantemente, en donde los
rasgos estructurales casi no se evidencian en los cambios no torios de
buzamientos de las capas, en el área del valle generado por el Rio Suarez se
encuentra diversidad de Fósiles depositados In Situ en posición de vida. Seguido a
esto se encuentran depósitos aluviales generados por el fuerte caudal del Rio ;
estas unidades son comparables con la nomenclatura utilizada parala Geología
de Santander.

ABSTRACT
The region where I place the study area is located in the central part of the Eastern
Cordillera of the Andes and it outcrops from the Early Cretaceous to Quaternary
Alluvium, which are evident in different conditions of sedimentation. In this region
are mainly sedimentary rocks, these rocks crop out through the deposition of
sediment in shallow waterenvironments, where it is very noticeable the principl e of
superposition of layers nearly horizontal with slight dips. The abundance of
specimens of Fossil creates an attraction in this region. The outcropping
stratigraphic sequences are conformably covered, where the structural features are
evident in almost no noticeable changes in dips of the layers in the valley area
generated by the RioSuarez diversity of fossils is deposited in situ in life position .
Following this alluvial deposits are generated by the strong flow of the river, these
units are comparable to the nomenclature used for the geology of Santander.

2. INTRODUCCION
El área de trabajo de campo I, se ubico al Noroeste del Municipio de Barichara, secaracteriza por una geología definida de depósitos sedimentarios del cretáceo de
origen marino. Estratigráficamente se caracteriza por estratos que conforman una
secuencia de intercalaciones de niveles de calizas negras fosilíferas duras en la
base y calizas arenosas intercaladas con arenisca y capas gruesas de shale
negro. Se presentan lavados de caliza en caliche blanco, lo que caracterizaalto
grado de alteración de calizas. Esto permite caracterizar geomorfológicamente
niveles duros y blandos, conformando grandes escarpes en las parte de la mesa
de Barichara y niveles blandos de shales con niveles de calizas arenosas.
