George Bush Presidential Museum

The museum was opened to the public in 1997. It is one of the biggest attractions in the Brazos Valley. The museum is home to 43 million pages of documents, twomillion photographs, thousands of sound and video recordings, and other volumes of information documenting the life and career of President George H.W. Bush. It contains various display and replicas ofthe ex presidents life.
The Culture of Wine was of one my favorites. It takes you through the whole process of making wine. It explains to you how wine became very important in the United States andthe difficulties that it had at the beginning. It was President Thomas Jefferson who fell in love with wine while on his visit to Paris. He believed that America too could be a wine country. Ispecifically enjoyed the replica of his old fireplace. How it has dumbwaiters leading directly to his wine cellar.
Another exhibit that I enjoyed very much was the Duty, honor, and country. How he servedin the armed forces and made a name for himself. He was a very brave man. His duties to this country are greatly appreciated. It showed you the things that he went through during the war and it hadletters that he wrote home, just like every other soldier in the war did. It put things in a different perspective to me just seeing how much of an average person he really was. We like to think of ourpresidents as people that we cant ever come near or compare to when in all reality they are people just like you and I.
I watched the 18 minute film that they offer and it turned out to be veryeducational. I wish that as a child my school would have taken us there for a field trip. The film covered a lot about his life. It covered his childhood and how he fell in love with his wife Barbara. Hehad four boys and a lost his little daughter to leukemia at the age of three. In the video he explained how it was difficult to run for office and still run a business.
