Germany
Germany is a federal parliamentary republic in Europe. The country consists of 16 states while the capital and largest city is Berlin. Germany covers an area of 357.021 km2 and has a largelytemperate seasonal climate. With 82 million habitants, it is the most populous member state and the largest economy in the European Union.
Biodiversity
The territory of Germany can besubdivided into two ecoregions: European-Mediterranean Montane mixed forests and Northeast-Atlantic shelf marine. As of 2008 the majority of Germany is covered by either arable land (34%) or forest andwoodland (30.1%); only 13.4% of the area consists of permanent pastures, 11.8% is covered by settlements and streets.
Languages
German is the official and predominant spoken language in Germany. Themost used immigrant languages are Turkish, Kurdish, Polish, the Balkan languages, and Russian; 67% of German citizens claim to be able to communicate in at least two languages other than their own. Tourism
