How the Bikini Saved Spain
The tourism was one of the things that helped Spain prepare to democracy. Bikinis (two little pieces of cloth) were ones of thefirst shocked changes that occurred in Spain beaches.
Benidorm, Marbella, etc. were small beaches, where Spanish families were used to spend their summer. There were a few hotels and summer houses, butdue to the revolution, Benidorm has become one of the most touristic cities in Spain. The tourists were coming and infrastructure was growing more and more. Previously, people wore closed swimsuit,but with bikinis arriving in the beach, the country began to change.
Because of corruption and dirty money, Spain has become in a strong tourism. The revolution that started with Benidorm had changea lot of things in Spaniards life.
Clubs and Curas
On the one hand, we find the sex and drugs revolution, which took place in Spain after Franco’s death. The Spanish economy was based onprostitution. In 2004, 38 per cent of Spanish population was prostitutes. It was illegal to make money of it, but it wasn’t illegal to have them working in a club. Nobody answered if Spain was in favor ornot of prostitution, because this business was very profitable for the country.
On the other hand, we can see women’s life during Franco’s regime. For example, if a woman is married, she mustnever confront her husband, and never use her anger against him. Abortions and divorces were allowed. Women were forced to endure the Machismo of those years.
Men and Children First
On the onehand, we can see Spanish family, where children are used to have everything they want, for example if they want cookies, they have cookies, they want to see TV, and the television is switched on. Theseand other things could be the principal cause of Childhood obesity. It is difficult to decide whether it is Spanish parents who don’t want their children to grow up, or young Spaniards who dislike...
