Ghosts
First civilizationwhich we have enough written text are Egyptian and Mesopotamia civilizations.
In Egypt they believe in the existence of souls out of bodies that should be reincarnated in other dimension, for thisreason was so important funerals for them. And this was the first idea on which the ghost’s idea will be build.
In Sumerian mythology were myths with apparition of souls, as the Gilgamesh myth, whenEnkidú’s soul appears to Gilgamesh.
In Greek culture they believe that if a body hadn’t the appropriated funeral, the soul will be trapped in our world and it couldn’t go to the afterlife place whereit should be. And it can be a problem for alive people.
In the case of Roman culture, they took their religion, believes and rites from Greek culture, and they do exactly the same as Greeks, but,they had a lot of slaves, and not everyone had the same funeral. Slaves were buried on mass graves or they were food for vultures.
Also in both cases ghosts were present in the classic myths as in theOdyssey, Orfeo and Eurydice myth, In the Trojan war or in Antigona.
When the Roman Empire was over there were three religions with more followers in Europe, Judaism, Christian and Islam. In the caseof Islam, they don’t think that are human souls that stay in our world because when they die they must pass a judgment and then they go to heaven or hell.
In the case of Judaism and Christian theybelieve in ghosts because they think that a human soul can stay in the earth for a short period of time. And there is an example of this in the Old Testament, in the first book of Samuel (28:7-19),...
