Jem is like me or am I like Jem?

The novel of “To Kill a Mockingbird” takes place in the south of the United States around the 1930’s. JeremyAtticus finch lives in a town which is called Maycomb; he is an average town boy who lives with his sister and father. Through the story we see this character grow and mature through life experiencesand development. Even if he starts with a kid’s mentality with somehow adventurous spirit, he is a very calmed person and doesn’t create too much problems to his family, contrary to his littlesister. I feel identified with this character because his maturity and way to analyze the situation are very similar to mine. His behavior makes me think how I would act and identify myself with his. Jemand I possess a similar mentality and behavior in which I feel included and somehow understand.

Jem has a pride of his own just as I. It is hard for us to accept our mistakes or real emotions. Forexample in this novel there is a house in which supposedly lives a scary man. Every time Jem goes in front of that house he runs through the street even though he says he isn’t scared of him. In my ownway I too cover up for my actions with excuses. If I make a mistake at talking and someone notices it I would go like: “I made it on purpose”, right, like if they would believe such a terrible liar.This pride is also what makes us who we are as a person, which make us feel motivated to be more and keep us on the line to maintain our true self. As a mark, it keeps us attached to our moral code andvalues. We feel pride on the family, pride in our actions and feeling proud of ourselves.
