(d) I bought an expensive (adjective) + (noun) grammar + (noun) book. | Both an adjective and a noun canmodify a noun. The adjective comes first, the noun second. |
Modifying nouns with adjectives and nouns

Examples :
Mom made some soup. We bought some tickets.


I watched a good television program. My sister gave me a funny birthday card.


Word order of adjectives
(a) A large redcar | Two adjectives modify a noun |
(b) A beautiful young woman (c) A beautiful red car (d) A beautiful red car | The adjective “beautiful” expresses an opinion. Opinion adjectives usually come before all the other adj. |
(e) Opinion Adjectives

good wonderful | There are many opinion adjectives. The words in (e) are examples of common opinion adjectives. |
(f) Some delicious Mexican food (g) A small glass vase (h) A kind old Chinese man | A noun is usually modified by only one or two adjectives, although sometimes there are three. |
(i) RARE: A beautiful small old brown Greek metal coin |It´s very rare to find a long list of adjectives in front of a noun. |

Examples:
Some delicious Thai food. Some small red tomatoes.

Sally picked a huge red flower. We bought a blue soft blanket.
Expressions of quantity: all of, mostof, some of, almost all of

(a) Rita ate all of the food on her plate. (b) Mike ate most of his food. (c) Susie ate some of her food. | All of, most of and some of express quantities.All of = 100%Most of = a large part, but not allSome of= a small or medium part |
(d) Matt ate almost all of his food. | All of = 100% Almost all of = 95%-99%Almost is used with all; all cannot beomitted |

Examples:
Some of the students in this class have dark hair.

All of the students in this class can speak English.

Some of the students in this class wear grasses.

(a) Sam is one of (one of) + (plural noun) my friends | One of is followed by aspecific plural noun. | |
(b) One of (one of) + (plural name) + (singular verb) my friends is here. | When one of + a plural noun is the subject of a sentence, it´s followed by a singular verb. | |
(c) None of the students was late. (d) None of the students were late. | none of = not one of The verb following none of + a plural noun can be singular or plural. | |
