GRANADA

The Granada region is a must for anyone travelling to Nicaragua.
Despite many minor and some major setbacks over the last 450 years (erupting volcanoes, pillaging pirates, and blazingfires) the attractive port city of Granada shines and offers much to see and do.
Granada is as colonial a city as you will find in Central America, and without the throngs of tourists that tend to takeaway from an area’s authenticity.
Chock-full of architectural and historical splendour, Granada provides a window into the past which one can experience just by strolling through the peaceful parksor along the narrow cobblestone streets. But don’t confine yourself only to the city limits… there is a lot to see in and around Granada.
Situated on the north-western shore of the impressive LakeNicaragua (or Cocibolca in the old indigenous language) and flanked on its southern side by the cloud-covered peak of the Mombacho volcano, Granada is also a great place from which to make variousexcursions, such as island hopping or volcano climbing!  





SAN JUAN DEL SUR


San Juan del Sur is a small village located in the south-western corner of Nicaragua just a few kilometres north ofthe Costa Rica boarder. Set against the prehistoric volcanic hills to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west, the ambiance is truly magnificent.
San Juan del Sur is one of the most touristminded places in Nicaragua. Friendly natives will gladly give you information and enjoy your presence (of course, spending your money there does not harm the local economy). Several restaurants along thebeach and throughout the town provide an abundance of local foods and spirits. The view from the top of the surrounding hills is breathtaking and well worth the climb.
Fishing boats fill the oceaninlet and there are even some commercial fishing boats and sailboats that are available to rent. Sometimes it's fun just to go out and catch your dinner rather than merely buying fish and lobster from...
