POM Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold
The Greatest Movie Ever Sold is adocumentary about and by Morgan Spurlock. He comes up with an idea to create a movie about advertisement and marketing, while using footage of him dealing with companies to use their product in themovie. He gets Sheetz, Mini Cooper, POM, Jet Blue and others. He used the money that was given by all these companies, to finance the movie, and get profit. So Morgan made a movie about himself proposinghis idea of a movie, not only including the process but also some funny commercials in-between. POM paid a million dollars to be in the title of the movie, and the movie its self cost about 1.5million. It has an estimated gross over $600,000. The idea of this is so amazing, because you can see in the movie how he started calling companies like Coca-Cola and Volkswagen, and he was rejected.There was a part he mentioned how he had no power, because he had to call like anybody else, and wait on hold. When Spurlock called Volkswagen, they sent him a fax, saying that the company didn’t wantanything to do with his movie. Later on in the movie this is funny, because he got an agreement with Mini Cooper, and while he was pumping gas on his Mini Cooper, he says “Tell you one thing I’m glad of,is that I’m not driving some piece of crap Volkswagen”. After saying this he just started mentioning good things about the Mini Cooper, and it was just great advertisement for them, and completelythe opposite for Volkswagen. It was hard for Morgan to do this movie not only because not many companies saw it as a good method of marketing, but also because when these companies gave him money, theyhad rules he had to follow.
