What is biogenetic?
Biogenetic is a branch in biology that studies everything that concerns with altering the genomes of living organisms.
Biogenetic is also called genetic engineering; it isabout the development of techniques, methods and procedures that permit a direct manipulation of the genetic material to alter the hereditary information of a cell, living organism or population.
Themain appliance of biogenetic in this area is to create, by altering the genetic material of the plants, new different kinds of plants or trees with characteristics that humans need or want for their ownbenefits.
One example of this is the tobacco plant, that even thought it’s very harmful for humans health it has been genetically modified to clean contaminated floors.
Another example is theinvestigation that started the biologist June Medford, tries to “teach” plants to develop de capacity to create some “alert proteins” in front of threatening things. This kind of plants can even be capableof changing its color because of the presence of explosives.
“Plants cannot run or hide from threatenings, so they have developed sophisticated systems to respond to their environment. We haveteached them how to detect things we are interested in, in that way they can tell us if there is something nocive around us.”

In an Australian University they found out a way to make plantsstronger among salty environments, because it has been scientifically proved that some plants that live in salty places can’t live for long. With biogenetics they have been able to change the geneticmaterial of these plants and make them survive in some environments in which they couldn’t survive before.
Humans have been years working in this kind of projects, and right now they have discoveredmany things that can be done by altering the genetic material of plants.
