Biography of Green Day
Green Day's story begins in Berkeley, California, in 1983, when two young friends named Billie Joe Armstrong (Billie Joe) and Michael Pritchard (Mike Dirnt), formed his firstband called Sweet Children. At that time only had 14.
In 1989 the duo joined drummer Al Sobrante and changed its name Sweet Children by Green Day. That same year, Green Day released their firstalbum with an independent company. The working title was "1,000 Hours", which was well received in the punk environments. Shortly after Sobrante was replaced by another drummer, John Kiftmeyer. With it,Green Day published in 1990 his first album, "1039/Smooth". A new change in the battery leaves Tre Cool in command of the instrument.
In 1992 Green Day released "Kerplunk." The success of this workmakes the majors of the discography is set in the group. After signing up for Reprise Company (a subsidiary of Warner), published in 1994 the album "Dookie".
With the single "Longview" and thanksto the huge promotion of MTV, Green Day manage to pull himself to the top of the charts in America. "Basket Case", the second track from the album, remains number one for five consecutive weeks. Thevideo for "Basket Case" was awarded the title "Video of the Year 94" by MTV. That same year, Green Day participates in the "Woodstock 94", which further increased the popularity of the group.
In1995 Green Day released a new album, "Insomniac", in returning to number one on the U.S. charts with the song "JAR". The title of the topic were the initials of a friend of Mike who had recently died.After a grueling promotion of the album, the group decides to suspend a planned tour of Europe to take a break.
After two years of silence, Green Day released "Nimrod", an album that stands out forthe change of style of the group and adding new rhythms and instruments. This album includes the first fully instrumental song by Green Day, "Last Ride In". From the same album is also instrumental...
