The Licence Plus:
atteststo your driving privilege; proves your identity and citizenship for travel to the U.S. by land or water; replaces your regular driver’s licence.
To be eligible to obtain a driver’s licence Plus, you must:
be a Canadian citizen; be a resident of Québec; hold a valid Québec driver’s licence that is plasticized; not be prohibited from leaving the country.
Obtaining a Licence Plus:
1. Read theApplicant’s Guide thoroughly, including sections about information sharing and protection of personal information. 2. Ensure that you have two valid proofs of identity (see the Guide, page 6), one with a photo and, where applicable, documents proving a change of name. Original copies of documents must be presented. Photocopies will not be accepted. 3. Ensure that you have a proof of citizenship(original document, not a photocopy), which may include one of the following documents: • a valid Québec birth certificate issued by the Registrar of Civil Status since 1994 (for persons born in Québec). A baptismal record (baptismal certificate or a certificate of birth issued by a parish) and the plasticized certificate are not accepted; or • a valid birth certificate, not a hand-writtendocument, issued by the appropriate vital statistics agency of a Canadian province or territory (for persons born in these jurisdictions); or • a certificate of Canadian citizenship or another document issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC), (see the Guide, page 6).
