On April 24, 1993 my mom, Marleni Montes, gave birth to her first born, Josue Escalante my brother. When my mom had 32 weeks of pregnancy started to have problems with her bloodpressure. Her blood’s pressure was often really high. She had to sign in in the hospital so that the doctors could control her blood pressure. My dad at this time was working atCopan while my mom was in Tegucigalpa. So my mom most of the time was alone. When she had 33 weeks of pregnancy my mom bloods pressure was worse. It was really hard to keep it innormal. Doctors decided that she was going to be in intensive care unit. On the 24th of April, my mom’s blood pressure was really high. Doctors couldn’t lower it down. The doctorsdecided that they were going to get the baby out by caesarean, because the baby might get in fetal distress or harm the baby. My mom remembers doesn’t remember that much thatmorning. One thing that she felt was having immense headaches and she felt that her head and tongue weighted more as usually. When the doctor was making his usual routine, he callednurses and doctors as an emergency to get the baby out. My mom recounts that when they were transferring to the surgery room, she felt a very unusual and unlike smell which madeher feel sick. She was really nervous and started to rub her belly and said, “Josue Daniel we are going to make it, God is with us and nothing bad is going to happen”. My momrecounts that two of her bible verses popped out on her mind the first one is Hebrews 11: 1-3 which says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do notsee. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that he universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what as visible”.
