Scene I: Elizabeth walking to Miss Lottie`s house (a long shot, level angle, sound music)
Elizabeth (level angle, medium shot,) arrives Miss Lottie’s house and knocks at the door. Miss Lottie opens the door. Characters: Miss Lottie, Elizabeth, John.
ML:(with impolite face)
Who are you? Can I help you?
E: (with face kind)
Excuse me, I saw a job announcement. Do you still need a gardener?
ML: Yes, do you know anything about Marigolds?
E: (with kind face)
Well, yes my father taught me and I have worked with every kind of flower.
J: John comes out the door on his way to work
Sorry, mom. So, I’ll see you later, alright?
ML:Sure, Honey. Take care.
J: (crosses)
Excuse me
E: Elizabeth looks at John walk away. (Romantic music, slow motion)
Elizabeth and Miss Lottie resume their conversation
ML: Can you start now?
ML: Miss, Can you start now.
E: Oh yes! Sure, thank you so much
ML: Well, then come with me
Scene II: (Elizabeth is cleaning the Marigolds, when John approaches)
J: (with lovelysmile)
I have always had this question… maybe you can answer… How often do marigolds bloom?
E: (level angle, Elizabeth stands up and explains, close up to Elizabeth’s face)
Oh, the whole year, but in this season you can see the most beautiful colors on them.
J: (lovely face)
That’s interesting... I had never paid attention to how flowers change their colors depending on the season.E: (with a sweet smile)
Many of them do!
J: (shows emotion and interest)
I see… (Pause)
E: (enthusiastic)
I love this kind of flowers especially, you know? I’ve spent a lot of time painting landscapes, but marigolds are always the main focus of my work.
J: Really? You paint? I own an art gallery. I would like to see your paintings some time.
E: sure! You’re actually the firstperson that has shown any interest in my paintings…
J: By the way, I’m John
E: Oh, I’m Elizabeth.
Scene III: Elizabeth and her friend the nurse
(Elizabeth’s workshop) Elizabeth is painting. A knocking at the door. Characters: Elizabeth, and the nurse.
E: Come in!
N: Hi, girl! How are you?
E: (without looking up) I’m okay, I guess.
N: (eyeing some frames) I heard you quit your job atMiss Lottie’s…
E: Well… she fired me…
N: Really? That witch…
E: Elizabeth half-smiles at her friend’s remark.
N: And John?
E: Well, what could he do?
N: Stand up for you. What else?
E: I wanted to leave anyway… I wanted to paint.
N: Are you still seeing him?
E:( Elizabeth half-smiles again) Yes.
N: Well, at least… (looks at her watch). My goodness! Look at the time! I got to getto the clinic! Talk to you later? (Kisses Elizabeth)
E: Sure.
N: Bye, girl!
E: Bye.
Scene IV:
Miss Lottie’s garden (exterior at night, John is waiting for Elizabeth) Characters: John, Elizabeth, Miss Lottie.
J :(with sweet voice)
I was losing my hope. I thought you wouldn’t come today.
E: Oh, I’m sorry, dear…
J: I got something for you (offers him the rose).
E: Oh, you’re sosweet. (Kisses him).Elizabeth (smile)
Oh, I’m so sorry; I was finishing of painting your gift.
Elizabeth and John take a sit on a garden bench.
E: John, Why is your mom so over protective of you?
J: Oh… Ever since I was a child… (cautiously) I have had this… heart problem.
E: (alarmed) Honey!
J: My mom is just afraid. That’s all.
E: But, are you OK? Now I’m afraid, too.
J: Don’tworry, sweetie. I’m fine.
John kisses Elizabeth’s hair and she closes her eyes.
ML: John, where are you? I need you.
E: I think it’s time for you to get back.
J: John hugs Elizabeth while she keeps talking.
E: Promise me that we are gonna meet tomorrow.
J: John kisses Elizabeth’s forehead
E: Elizabeth walks away from John while he keeps looking at her go.
ML: John…?...
