RESUMEN

ABSTRACT

Las comunidades silvestres de maguey verde (Agave salmiana
spp crassispina) del sureste de Zacatecas, México, han sido
sobreexplotadas en las últimas décadas y su deterioro afecta a laentomofauna asociada que también es recolectada en forma empírica, por lo que es necesario replantear su aprovechamiento.
El objetivo del presente estudio fue evaluar las existencias de
gusano blanco, gusano rojo y escamoles asociados a las magueyeras
naturales del ejido Tolosa, así como determinar sus características. Se usó un análisis fotogramétrico para digitalizar un mapa
de distribución de lasmagueyeras silvestres en el cual, con base
en la densidad de los agaves y su cobertura, se delimitaron unidades ambientales (UA) homogéneas. Mediante sitios anidados y
un muestreo aleatorio estratificado en campo usando parcelas de
250 m2, se describieron los atributos ecológicos de la vegetación
arbustiva. Como las magueyeras fueron las comunidades objetivo para cuantificar los insectos, seusaron como estratos para
calcular su existencia. Se detectaron tres UA con una superficie
de 10 894.6 ha con diferentes atributos ecológicos (índice de dominancia y diversidad de especies). Se calculó una existencia de
10.5, 11.0 y 21.7 t de gusano blanco, gusano rojo y escamoles,
que con un esquema secuenciado de recolección por temporada
anual podría generar 26 210 jornales al ejido, permitiendoobtener ingresos económicos adicionales y favoreciendo el aprovechamiento integral de sus recursos naturales.

The wild green agave communities (Agave salmiana spp
crassispina) of the southeast of Zacatecas, Mexico, have been
overexploited in the last decades, and their deterioration affect
the associated entomofauna, also collected empirically, which
makes it necessary to redefine theirexploitation. The objective
of the present study was to evaluate the stocks of white grub, red
grub, and escamoles (ant larvae) associated to the natural agave
communities of the ejido Tolosa, as well as to determine their
characteristics. A photogrammetric analysis was used to digitalize
a map of distribution of wild agave communities, where – based
on the density of agaves and their dispersal – homogeneousenvironmental units (UA) were delimited. By means of nested
sites and random stratified field sampling, using 250 m2 plots,
the ecological attributes of shrub vegetation were described. The
same as the agaves, the communities were the objective for
quantifying the insects; they were used as strata to calculate
their stock. Three UA with an area of 10 894.6 ha with different
ecological attributes(dominance/index and species diversity) were
detected. Stocks of 10.5, 11.0, and 21.7 t of white grub, red
grub, and escamoles, were calculated, that with a sequenced
collection scheme, per annual season, could generate 26 210 daily
wages for the ejido, allowing to obtain additional economic income
and favoring the integrated exploitation of their natural resources.
