Los tigres son felinos de piel rojiza y rayas negras. Viven en las selvas asiáticas, de Liberia hasta Asia del Sur. Durante muchos siglos ha sido cazado por sus huesos, piel yotras partes de su cuerpo.
El tigre es muy ágil y mata a sus presas enterrándoles sus colmillos en la garganta. El Tigre de Bengala es el más grande de los felinos. Su piel le permitecamuflarse muy bien. El tigre puede hacer saltos hasta de 6 metros de largo y 2 metros de alto. El tigre tiene garras que se agarran muy bien y dientes fuertes con los que despedazala piel y otras partes del cuerpo de su presa.
Los tigres nadan muy bien. Los tigres tienen poca resistencia, por eso prefieren sorprender a sus víctimas saltando sobre ellas.Devora a su presa en el mismo sitio donde la cazó y cuando esta lleno esconde las sobras entre hojas y piedras. Hoy en día (2004-2005) quedan solamente 7.000 Tigres. Tres especies detigres ya desaparecieron:
