Halloween

Halloween, also known as Night of Bruges or Night of Deceased, is a holiday of Celtic origin that celebrates principally in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the United Kingdom and in not Anglo-Saxon countries as Mexico in the night of October 31. It has origin in the Celtic festivity of the Samhain and the festivity christens of the All Saints' Day. Largely, it is a secularcelebration though some of them think that it possesses a religious background. The Irish immigrants transmitted versions of the tradition to North America during the Great Irish famine of 1840.
The day associates often with the colors orange, black and purple and is strongly tied to symbols as Jack - Or '-lantern. Halloween's typical activities are the famous trick or treatment and the holidays ofdisguises, besides the bonfires, the visit of delighted houses, the jokes, the reading you tell the history of fear and viewed movies of terror.

Celtic origin
Halloween has his origin in a Celtic festivity known as Samhain, which derives from ancient Irish and means summer end. The former britanos had a similar festivity known since Gaeaf Sinks in. In the Samhain there was celebrated theend of the season of crops in the Celtic culture and was considered as the new Celtic Year, which began with the dark station.

The Romantradition.
When there took place the Roman occupation of the Celtic domains the festivity was assimilated by these. Though already there was celebrated last days of October and the first of November a festivity known as the " holiday of the crop ", in honor to Pomona (goddess of the fruit-bearing trees), both traditions were mixed. The apples were very popular and soon they formed a part of thecelebration.

The festivity comes to The United States.
In 1840 this festivity comes to The United States, where it remains strongly deep-rooted. The Irish immigrants transmitted versions of the tradition during the Great Irish famine. They were they who spread the habit of dealing " Jack - Or '-lantern " (giant hollow gourd with a candle inside), inspired by the legend of "Jack Stingy".Nevertheless, the holiday did not begin to be celebrated massively until 1921. This year celebrated the Halloween's first parade in Minnesota and then other conditions followed him. The holiday acquired a progressive popularity in the following decades.
The internationalization of the Halloween took place at the end of the 70s and beginning of the 80 thanks to the cinema and the series oftelevision. In 1978, it was having the premiere in the USA and all over the world The Night of Halloween, of John Carpenter; a movie set in eve of All the Saints that supposed a reference to the cinema of terror of series B; with innumerable sequels and imitations.
