Halloween (contraction of All Hallows' Eve, 'Eve of All Saints'), also known asNight Witches, Witches Day or Night of the Dead, is a celebration of Celtic origin celebrated internationally on the night of October 31 , especially in English-speaking countries such as Canada, USA,Ireland and the UK and to a lesser extent, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru or Latin America overall, and in much of Spain. Despite being truly speaking countries, in Australia and New Zealand is not asseen as in other countries.

Its roots are linked to the Celtic celebration of Samhain and the Christian holy day of All Saints, celebrated by Catholics on November 1. It is largely a secularcelebration, but some feel that has a religious background. Irish immigrants passed versions of the tradition to North America during the Great Irish Famine.

The day is often associated with orange,black and purple colors, and is strongly associated with symbols like the jack-o'-lantern. Typical activities include the famous Halloween trick or treating and costume parties, plus bonfires, visitinghaunted houses, pranks, reading scary stories and viewing of horror films.

Halloween (contracción de All Hallows' Eve, 'Víspera de Todos los Santos'), también conocido como Noche de brujas, Día de brujas o Noche de difuntos, es una fiesta de origen celta que secelebra internacionalmente en la noche del 31 de octubre, sobre todo en países anglosajones como Canadá, Estados Unidos, Irlanda o Reino Unido y, en menor medida, en Chile, Colombia, México, Perú o elconjunto de Latinoamérica, y en gran parte de España. A pesar de ser países verdaderamente anglosajones, en Australia y Nueva Zelanda no es tan observada como en otros países.
