Hamlet and The Lion King
In this paper I’m going to talk about Hamlet and the Disney movie The Lion King. First I have to say that I didn´t know that this movie is an adaptation of Shakespeare playhamlet and I’m going to start talking about the movie.
In the movie the story is about this royal family of lions in Africa, Mufaza, Simba, Scar (all the names used in this movie come from thedialect called Suajili) they are the most important characters in this story, in the movie simba see how his father dies because of a trap setting by his uncle scar, and he thinks its all his fault becausehe didn´t obey what his father told him and that’s how sacar gets the kingdom.
Simba leave the land for a while because he felt guilty and when he was in the jungle he saw his father in the sky andthey talk for a few seconds after that talk simba returns to the kingdom and find out that his uncle was the one who killed his father and simba fights with his uncle scar and at the end simba doesn´tkill scar, the hyenas kill him.
Now is the turn to talk about hamlet and I would like to say that is hard to read it because is written in old English so as I understood Hamlet´s father is deadalmost from the beginning of the movie and he dies with this kind of poison that the uncle dropped in to his ear while he was sleeping, but people thought that the king died because of a snake bite and thequeen knew about this which is different of what happens in The Lion King. After that hamlet talks with “the shadow” (his father) and it tells him the truth about how he dies and who is the murderer.Hamlet planned to revenge his father and he confront his mother and he tells her the truth and I think Hamlet killed his uncle the same way he did with his father.
The difference between these twois that The Lion King is played with animals because is a kids movie also all the dialogues are shorter than in the play, in the play for example Hamlet has long monologues and most of the scenes...
