Is addiction a disease or a choice?
To begin we first have toknow what is addiction. If you search for the word addiction in the dictionary you would find that addiction is: the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that ispsychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma.
Once I know what it is addiction I can say that from my point of view addiction is achoice. Because first to have a addiction you have to take the substance or the material that you are going to become addict to. It was the choice of the person to take it in the first place and if youtook it because you were sick that isn’t correct either because you have to go to see a doctor or a specialist that has experience in the problem the person has. If you choose to go the doctor he isgoing to tell the person what to drink or eat. Because that is his job and he would know what to give you if you have a tendency to become addict to something.
They can also say that addiction is adisease because for example if a man has drink or smoke all his entire life and he has a son the son could have a tendency to smoke or to drink all his life too. But if he knows what good for him and forhis family he would never drink or smoke in his life. Because if he smokes or drinks still knowing that he could have a tendency to smoke or drink all his live that was a choice that he took a badchoice but it was a choice.
So that my point of view and if the person took the choice of drink or smoke and become addictive he can also take the decision of leave it. He can also ask for help like forexample a friend of my father that he had drunk for 30 years he realizes that he had a problem because he couldn’t stop drinking alcohol he would be most of the day drunk that normal. But he start...
