Thesehad been a source of culture in England. Henry brought the Italian workers to England to substitute the Gothic craftsman. The Italians gave softer lines and greater decoration to the plain heavy furniture which was common in England.

Greenwich was Henry VIII’s favourite palace because it was his place of birth. He was born in 1491.

Hampton Court
As Henry VIII was themost famous Tudor king, he lived in
grand palaces like Hampton Court. Approximately, in 1514 the palace was built by Thomas Cardinal Wolsey in the style of Italian architects such as il Filarete and Leonardo da Vinci. In 1520 Wolsey gave Henry VIII the Hampton Court, who enlarged it as his favourite residence. The style of Hampton Court had shifted from Gothic to Renaissance style which wassymmetrical. It is important to say that Wolsey at that time built there three grand apartments for the royal family (King Henry VIII, Queen Katherine of Aragon and their daughter princess Mary).

St George’s Chapel
Saint George Chapel was a magnificient example of late-medieval architecture. It was dedicated to the Order of the Garther, the hisgest order of chivalry. It was completed in 1528 whenHenry VIII was on the throne. Besides, it was where Henry VIII was burried in 1547.
