Hansel and Gretel Story

Narrator: Hansel and Gretel lived in the forest in a tiny cottage with their poor father, who was a woodcutter, and their evil stepmother.
The last one night the poor woodcutter said to his wife:

Father: What are we going to do? We don’t have enough food to feed the children.

Wife: It’s true, tomorrow morning we will take them into the forest and will leave themthere, but before we will light a fore for them and give each of them one more piece of bread. They will not find the way home.

Father: I will not do that to own children! The wild animals will eat them.

Wife: You fool! Then all of us shall die of hunger.

Narrator: She insisted so much in that idea, so the father finally agreed. But Hansel and Gretel were not sleeping; they were listeningto the whole conversation.

Gretel: Now, all is over with us.

Hansel: Don’t cry, sister. I will soon find a way to help us.

Narrator: The moon was shining brightly, and the White pebbles shone like new pennies. Hansel filled his pockets with as many pebbles.. Then he went into bed again.
The next morning the wife woke up the children very early.

Wife: Get up, you are a pair ofsluggards. You shall go with us to the forest today.

Narrator: She gave each a Little piece of bread.

Wife: Don’t eat this bread before lunch, because this isa ll you are going toe at today.

Narrator: While they were walking, Hansel was throwing White pebbles in order to find their way back home, but the father noticed that Hansel looked back every few minutes.

Father: Why do you look back sooften, my son?

Hansel: I looked back to see my Little cat who is sitting on the roof. It wants tos ay goodbye to me.

Wife: Nonsensel! That is the morning sun wich is shining on the chimneys.

Narrator: And when they reached the deep forest, their father said to them:

Father: I am going to light to warm you, and then you can rest here until I return.

Narrator: So Hansel and Gretelsat and when noon came they ate their slices of bread quite happly. Then, felling every tired and fell fast asleep.
When they awoke, Gretel began to cry and said:

Gretel: Oh Hansel! What shall we do? We are lost in the forest
Hansel: Only wait until the moon rises and then we will soon find the way.

Narrtor: And when the moon began to rise and to light up the dark forest, the children foundthe White pebbles shining and showed then the way.

Hansel: Come on Gretel, it’s time to find our way home.

Gretel: Let’s go!

Narrator: The knoked on the door and the stepmother answered.

Wife: You bad children! We thought you would never come back!

Narrator: But their father took them up in his arms and kissed them.
Not long afterwards, there was once more great dearth spreadthroughout the land, and the children Heard their stepmother saying to their father

Wife: We are even poor. Must we take the children once more to the forest, where they cannot possibly find their way home.

Father: Yes

Narrator: Hansel and Gretel, however, were still awake and Heard the conversation. When all was quite, Hansel again got up to go and collect some pebbles, but the stepmother hadlocked the door.

Hansel. Don’t cry Gretel, the goo God will help us.

Narrator: The next morning the wife woke the children very early.

Wife: Come, get up, you lazy children! You are going to the forest with us today. Here is your dinner.

Narrator: And she give them two small slices of bread. On their way into the forest, Hansel secretly throwing pieces of his bread along the way. Andwhen they reached the deep forest, their stepmother said to them:

Wife: Stay here until we come to pick you up.

Narrato: Hansel and Gretel did as they were told, but then noght came.
When they awoke it was very dark and Gretel began crying.

Hansel: Just wait Gretel until the moon rises, and then we shall see the crumbs of bread.

Narrator: When the moon rose…

Hansel: Come on...
