"High Tension" Screening Report
The film’s technique of concealing the murderer’s identity is executed in the film in a variety of ways and this “secret identity” ultimately contributes to High Tension’s “High Tension” effectoverall. Firstly, the film makes use of a variety of camera angles and lighting techniques in order to portrait and arbitrarily profile the killer’s presence in various scenes. Furthermore, the filmabstains from any shot/reverse-shot panning techniques, which would give the audience a direct panning of frontal facial images of its characters, specifically never using such techniques in correlationwith the murderer. The film instead employs many long shots to maintain the arbitrary unidentified mysteriousness associated with its protagonist and villain, the murderer. Dark scenes and bleaklighting compose the majority of the films shadowy frames and scenes.
