The History of the Mexican National Anthem

National Anthem began to emerge when situations happening in the world as the unification of the countries or the emergence of nation-states and empiresin order to achieve a demonstration of national unity and the formation of symbols, together with the establishment of other symbols like a flag, and shield as symbols of distinction. Under thistrend, Mexico was no exception.

Of the 26 compositions submitted was chosen one as the winner, the poet from San Luis Potosi, Francisco González Bocanegra, however, now the problem turned out to bethe music that would adapt to that point. A sealed envelope was sent the composition of the music of the anthem, only with initials, JN Jaime Nuno, a Catalan musician, was the author, and was first sungon 15 September 1854, at the Teatro Santa Anna.

Later, a series of struggles between the liberal and conservative, so it was decided to relegate everything about the President Santa Anna, so stopsinging the national anthem until 1862 when the Eastern Army combat French in Puebla.

In 1943 the national anthem becomes official, under the presidential decree of Manuel Avila Camacho, throughthe Official Journal of the Federation.

Finally, in 1984 under President Miguel de la Madrid Hurtado, was published by the Law on the Flag, Shield and Anthem which specifies the use andcharacteristics of Symbols.
Anthem of Mexico, experts say that this is the second most beautiful work of this nature, surpassed only by La Marseillaise, French National Anthem.

A century of existence, itis understood that the letter of the Mexican anthem retains its symbolic value, but its poetic style and for the nineteenth-century liberal thought. Thus, without losing its literary beauty andcomposition, as well as its historical significance.
