What is the history of golf? The origins of the golf game that play today is very unclear and very debated. They are traces of similar games like golf that where played with a stick and ball thatgo as faras to the ancient china. We also find some similar games in the Roman Empire, Belgium, England, France, Holland and Scotland. So we can see that the golf game was no invented or originated ina single place, country or person. We can find in history that the golf game we now today had different influences from around the world . They say that golf was no invented but was born within us.One of the first civilization that we can say played something like golf was the roman empire. The Roman soldiers played a game called “paganica”. Although this game consist of hitting a ball withcurved sticks, but this game seemed to be a team sport not an individual game. Also they were some finding in history with points that in the early Ming dynasty, china, there was a game played called“suigan”, and the game consisted in hitting a ball with a stick while walking. The history suggest that the game may been exported to Europe. Another country that had similar game to golf was England. Theyused to play “cambuca”, they are findings in cathedrals that showed a person doing a backswing like movement with a stick in their hands. Well the French did stayed far away from this since theyalso had a similar game to golf, actually it’s like a mixtures of tree different games that we now; croquet, billiards and miniature golf, this was called “jeu de mail”. This game was played with awooden ball and long handles mullets. This game also was played in England but with a different name. They called it “pall mall”. While in Belgium they had their own game called “chole”, this was playedwith heavy iron clubs and a egg shape ball.
