1. What type of mineral is chosen mineral? (Silicate or Non Silicate)

Peridot belongs to the forsterite-fayalite mineral series, which is part of the olivine group. It is one of the "idiochromatic" gems, meaning its color comes from the basic chemical composition of the mineral itself, not from minor impurities. Chemically Peridot is just an iron-magnesium-silicate, and the intensity ofcolor depends on the amount of iron contained.
2. What is the molecular composition of the mineral ?

Peridot is the gem variety of olivine. Olivine, which is actually not an official mineral, is composed of two minerals: fayalite and forsterite. Fayalite is the iron rich member with a pure formula of Fe2SiO4. Forsterite is the magnesium rich member with a pure formula of Mg2SiO4. Olivine's formula is written as (Mg, Fe)2SiO4 to show the substitution of the magnesium and iron. Peridot is usually closer to forsterite than fayalite in composition although iron is the coloring agent for peridot. The best colored peridot has an iron percentage of less than 15% and includes nickel and chromium as trace elements that may also contribute to the best peridot color. The molecularcomposition: (Mg,Fe)2SiO4 magnesium iron silicate.
3. If Mineral is a Non Silicate what class does it belong to?
My mineral is silicate.
4. What is the Mineral’s color?
Peridot is one of the few gemstones, which exist only in one color. Its color agent is iron that accounts for the deep green color with that slight golden hue. Chemically Peridot is just an iron-magnesium-silicate, and theintensity of color depends on the amount of iron contained. The color as such can come in any variation from yellow-green and olive to brownish green. An intense, deep green color is the favorite. The best colored peridot has an iron percentage of less than 15% and includes nickel and chromium as trace elements that may also contribute to the best peridot color. Peridot looks best in daylight. Itsbrilliant green sparkle does not change in artificial light.
5. What is the Mineral’s luster?
The crystals of peridot have a vitreous lustre and conchoidal fracture. Gem-quality olivine is a mineral that composes a lot of the earth's mantel, the layer below the crust. It is also common in basalts on the moon.
6. What is the Mineral’s Streak?
Peridot is commonly a transparent stone.Inclusions can create a cloudy nature in larger stones. Peridot cat's eye and star peridot (showing four rays of light) are known, but a rarity. Table and step cuts are popular. Sometimes peridot gets a brilliant cut especially if to be set in gold.
7. What is the Mineral’s Cleavage?
Cleavage is the tendency of a crystallised mineral to break in certain definite directions, giving more or lesssmooth surfaces. This splitting is due to weak cohesive forces present in a mineral along different directions and is also related to the form and crystal structure of the mineral. A crystal may cleave in more than one direction. A crystal which cleaves in one direction will cleave equally well in every other parallel plane. Planes of cleavage are always planes of the crystal structure andtherefore are parallel to possible crystal faces. Is due to the regular arrangement of atoms. Hence, there is no cleavage in an amorphous substance. Cleavage in a crystal is described by the direction of cleavage, the number of directions in any single crystal, the ease of splitting and the quality of the cleavage surface obtained. Types of cleavage can be described as difficult as in peridot.
8.What is the Mineral’s Hardness?
Peridot is not particularly hard only 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale but it is easy to look after and fairly robust. Peridot cat's eyes and star peridot are particularly rare and precious.
9. What is the Mineral’s Density?
The peridot occurs as individual grains and aggregates of grains in a basalt which is about 3 to 35 meters thick that forms the top and...
