The story takes place in July 1998 in a Midwestern city in the United States called Raccoon City, where a multinational organization called Umbrella Corporation appears as a conglomeratethat owns branches of research, development and trade of every good and service that exists, but which is actually the cover for industry development and sale of biologicalweapons-especially-the-art.

The story begins when a wave of strange murders begin to occur near the city. Different hikers are found dead in nearby points, partially eaten, though it is unknown what animalhas been responsible for these atrocities. To prevent panic fester by the city, the police department decides to send the STARS, a division of the best cops especialemente trained for thework of rescue and survival, to thoroughly investigate the case.
