The name of the ships, the commander privilege was for the lunar module Eagle and Columbia to the command module.
At 15:17 on 20 July 1969, Houston time, TheEagle is perched on the lunar surface. - "Houston" Tranquility Base here, the Eagle has landed.
Neil Armstrong, commander of Apollo 11 Lunar Module, became the first human to walk on the moon to SouthMareTranquilitatis (Sea of Tranquility). His first words to set foot on the moon, "That's one small step for a man, but a giant leap for mankind" were transmitted to Earth and heard by millions.Apollo astronauts collected moon rocks, took thousands of photographs and instruments placed on the moon that information sent to Earth by radio telemetry.
