France produce dengue vaccine in 2015

Neuville-sur-Saône, - The group Sanofi Pasteur plans to produce the first vaccine against dengue, called 'tropical flu', 2015 or 2016,sources with the pharmaceutical group.
"This vaccine will be available in mid-certainly in 2015 or 2016," said Dr. Jean Lang, dengue program manager of the pharmaceutical group, has begun phasethree trials in more than 31,000 children from two to 13 years in several countries in Latin America and Southeast Asia.
According to the World Health Organization, WHO, between 50 and 100 million casesoccur each year in more than 100 countries.
"With the Ministries of Health of ten countries in which we conduct clinical trials, we included 31,000 children and adolescents aged two to 13 years andwe hope the results of phase three by the end of 2014," said Lang.
More than 150 employees work longer in production, although the marketing of the vaccine is not expected before 2015 or havecompleted clinical trials of the vaccine are a prerequisite.
In total, Sanofi will invest 350 million euros in the construction of the plant in Neuville-sur-Saône (this).
Sanofi Pasteur expects to make solarge vaccination campaigns in countries like Brazil or India, where epidemics of dengue and hospitals collapse causing absenteeism.
"This vaccine has a strong economic interest," says Marc Gentilini,infectious disease specialist group and president of the French Red Cross.
Half the world's people are in endemic areas where dengue is present, both in Asia and in Latin America or the UnitedStates.
Europe also recorded this year the first cases of dengue since the 1920s, with 1,300 people affected by a virus contracted in Madeira (Portugal).
