Historia
A principios de la década de 1950, inspirado por el trabajo de Frank Lloyd Wright se unió al movimiento orgánico en la arquitectura,integrando formas vernáculas con arreglos estructurales modernistas para crear obras con alto valor social y ambiental.
Entre sus grandes proyectos más celebrados destacan el edificio del Banco deMéxico, la urbanización del Pedregal de San Ángel, la casa estudio de Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo y escuelas primarias en la Ciudad de México.
Mundialmente es reconocido como pintor por haber creado losmurales que recubren la Biblioteca Central de la UNAM, los murales del Museo Nacional de Historia en el Castillo de Chapultepec y en el Aeropuerto Internacional de la Ciudad de México.
Juan O'Gormanwas born in Mexico City in 1905. Son of an Irish father and Mexican mother, graduated from the School of Architecture, National University of Mexico. Adhered to a philosophy of progressive socialismreflected in its buildings, producing the first examples of functionalist architecture in the country. Later, disillusioned by functionalism, temporarily abandoned architecture to devote himself tomural painting.
