How American expansionism contributed to American progress?

Americanism was the first step for American progress because it offered a new way to live for a very big quantity of immigrants who wanted to have a new life in America. Most of them were people from Europe trying to start their lives again, some remembered things of America were the land runs that made part of the most importantexpansionism at the end of the 19th century.
Expansionism allowed a new bunch of people to build up in which now are recognized as American lands in practically half day, some examples of these fast ways of setting up new cities were: the land run on April, 22th 1889 that helped to grow up what is now called Oklahoma, this rapid growth let almost ten thousand people in just half day something whichwas not common even on one magazine called “Harper´s weekly (a journal of civilization)” were captured the moments of that memorable day and it said: “At twelve o'clock on Monday, April 22d, the resident population of Guthrie was nothing; before sundown it was at least ten thousand. In that time streets had been laid out, town lots staked off, and steps taken toward the formation of a municipalgovernment”.by the second day there were children studying in makeshift school with volunteer teachers paid by the kids´ parents, amazingly within just one month of being established in Oklahoma were built five banks and six newspapers.

Since that land run in 1889 there were other ones but they were just for claiming some Indian lands, and they were in:

-September 22nd, 1891 in which thefollowing lands were settled: Iowa, Sac and Fox, Potawatomi, and Shawnee.
-April 19th, 1892 opened up land that would become Blaine, Custer, Dewey, Washita, and Rogers Mills counties.
-May 23rd, 1895. Which was the smallest one, and its purpose was to make a settlement between the Kickapoo Indians and the federal government McLoud, Hagar, Wellston, Kickapoo, and North Wichita, Oklahoma; andincreased the size of Lincoln, Pottawatomie, and Oklahoma counties.

This is observable in the movie far and away which was based on these kind of event showing how immigrants needed to work hard without taking care if that job was appropriate or demeaning, a clear sample of this were joseph and Shannon who worked as a fighter (he was good at it) and started to have a lot of money but he seemed toforget his main purpose and spent his money on meaningless things, while Shannon never lost her own one, she was always thinking in finding a home to live. Although, this is a pretty common attitude in women, they most of the time are the ones which think in home before lushness.

However, it was just something they must do if they wanted to survive on these new lands that promised a new beyond.Nevertheless, when this events took place there were lots of people died because of the ones which were greedy and wanted to ensure a new place for themselves without matter if they had to go over the others or just killed them to get a piece of land.

On the other hand, the Indians that already lived over the western side Oklahoma contributed with the settlement but, their different activitiesand beliefs were not changed, they continued hunting, subsistence agriculture and a lot of different things that they used to do. But, they never participated in economic activities with the new people living over there.

While on the eastern side of Oklahoma there was rapid economic recovery spurred by railroad construction, expansion of timber and coal mining, and immigration of a substantialnumber of whites. The growth of the non-Indian population grew remarkably. A census of the Indian agency with jurisdiction over the Five Tribes reported an 1888 total population of 177,000, only 37 percent of whom were members of those tribes.

This city was totally unsustainable besides of all the progress being settled, it was just too small to be considered an economically successful city....
