History
* Germany was dominating all of Europe and parts of Africa. All the way from Norway to Greece there was even the threat thatthey might cross the Volga River and attack the Caucasus
* Japan crippled the USA navy in the Pacific with their unexpected attack on Pearl Harbor. The USA couldn’tfight the Japanese in Asia. They moved quickly capturing many British territories.
Wartime Partnerships
* Due to close relationships a tied was built betweenthe American and English troops. Combined Chiefs of Staff that were handling Anglo-American troops. They were very coordinated
* Japan and Germany weren’t thatcoordinated. They were both battling different wars, one in Asia and one in Germany
* In the United Nations the USA and Britain set up a Declaration. Twenty-Sixcountries join the fight against Germany and Japan. Roosevelt and Churchill believed that the war in Europe posed a greater problem that the one in Asia. Focused on Europe.* Soviet Union relationship with the USA was not good, but they still worked together. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. The US couldn’t help directly but it didsend lend-lease supplies.

Checking Japan in the Pacific
* The United States conducted amphibious island-hopping campaigns rather thanattempting to reconquering the Dutch East Indies, Southeast Asia, and China.
* The Battle of Midway turn point
* Solomon Island was first American offenses.
