The masque of the red Death

1.Why did Principe Prospero decide to take his friends far away to one of his distant castles?

Because there was not a pest called the red blood that causes death in half an hour and would bleed to people. Prospero decided to call their healthy friends to lock in the castle for the Red Death will not kill him.

2.How was the suite in Principe Prospero’s Castledifferent form suites on other palaces?

It was a group of buildings large and magnificent, eccentric taste. He was surrounded by a high wall. They had seven chambers. The distribution of the rooms was irregular. Every twenty or thirty meters produced a novel effect. There were stained glass whose color varied in accordance with the prevailing hue of the decorations of the chamber into which itopened.

The blue room, the windows were alive. The other was blue and purple crystals too. to reach the last room which was black velvet and crystals were blood red.
There were no lights and tripods rooms lit with a golden brazier fuego.Adornos everywhere and a clock in the room of dark ebony.

3.What happened when the clock in the black room struck the hour?

red death had gained entryinto buildings and when it came time, which was set by that clock at the dark room, managed to kill all who were there.

4.What happened when the clock stopped chining?

life of the ebony clock went out with the last court. And the flames of the tripods expired. And of all seized the Gloom, Corruption and the Red Death.

5.What did the people see after the clock struck midnight?

then themusic stopped and interrupted the dancing the waltz, and everything was arrested uneasily.

6.What was the stranger like?

His mask Rooked like the face of a death person, and it was hard to tell if it was real or not. He was like the Red Death.



7.What did the people discover when they grabbed the masked figure and pulled off his mask and costume?

They discovered that the mask andcostume were empty, so there was no one inside.

Summary of chapter 1:

the Red Death was a pest that invaded and terrorized the villagers. The Prince Prospero could not let this happen to him and his millions of friends, so he invited them to their buildings for shelter and saved from the plague deadly. The prince held a series of parties and mostimportant was the masks. Everyone was wearing masks. It was a party where everyone was dancing but when the ebony clock sounded in the last room dark, the people stopped dancing and was totally silent. The party continued until he arrived at midnight, when a spectrum mask was entering the buildings. This was in a firm and bold and Prince Prospero came to defeat him but was killed by the other. Byremoving the mask saw it was the Red Death (the plague they feared). The life of the ebony clock went out with the last court.

1. What sentence did the court pronounce on the prisoner ?
They sentenced him to death.



2. How did the narrator know he was not in a condemned cell ?
Because all of the condemned cells in Toledo had some light and theprisoner was dark.



3. How did the narrator measure his dungeon ?


He tore off his robes and he is walking around the cell and put in floor the piece of robe.



4. While measuring the dungeon, the prisioner fell asleep. What did he find when he woke up ?
He found a loaf of bread and a jug of water next to him.



5. What happened while he was walking in a straight line acrossthe cell ?
He found a pit in the center of the cell.



6. What did the narrator learn about the cell as result of his fall ?
He had fallen at the very brink of a circular pit, whose estent, of course, I had no means of ascertaining at the moment.



7. What kind of death had the Inquisition prepared for the prisoner ?
Death with its most hideous moral horrors.
