American History X

My thoughts about the movie:

American History X is a story about Danny, who admires his older brother Derek.Initially, shows us how Derek changed, due to the large number of external influences. The biggest one is the murder of his father, who was a firefighter and getsshot by a black man. These influences lead him to acquire a philosophy of hatred (Nazi type) and an attitude towards the people who are black. His violentactions end up with a murder of two black men and because of this he goes to jail.

In prison, Derek realizes what is behind all the hate. He feels betrayedby his own kind (white people). Ironically in this movie, his best friend in jail turns out to be a black man. When he comes out of jail he wants tore-educate his brother Danny, which has been manipulated in the same way that Derek was. And separate him and his loved ones from this racist and violent life heonce had.

The movie shows that the only way to make someone abandon this way of thinking is through education. Education is important at all stages ofour lives; it is always the best antidote against all those anti-social behaviors. It is clear that a person is not born being racist; it is something that isinfluenced by the people who are around you. The role of the teacher is to be equally or more important than the family, since kids spend nearly half histime at school. They are two factors helping Danny out of the racist world where he is: his brother and the teacher, who was also Derek’s in the past.
