Introduction

Speaking of homosexuality is very controversial today, either by a trend that has emerged in recent times, or simply greater unveiling of this social minority claimed as human wants.

Homosexuality is a practice known since antiquity; it has been persecuted, tolerated or even recognized, as has happened now with the legalization of gay marriages in European countries. Butdespite this opening of mind and tolerance that has emerged over time, the issue remains controversial every time it goes to the mat, as many companies still show a certain rejection of gay practices.

The word homosexuality derives from latin prefix "homos" as many think, but it is from the Greek "homois" which translates as the same or similar. Because of this, etymologically, homosexual sex wouldbe who has affinity to people of the same sex.

That is why in this paper I try to approach the most interesting and I explain why this issue so controversial. This is why I investigate the theory of its emergence, disease behavior it brings, some myths that have been held for decades, among others.

What is homosexuality?

It called homosexuality to having a sexual orientation, eithererogenous excitement and / or emotional attraction to individuals of the same sex, ie an erotic sexual attraction, romantic and affectionate. The word can be used both for the guidance of men and women, and is known today to gays and lesbians, respectively.

Although today we refer to as gay male homosexuality, this noun refers to people of both sexes. Usually used to describe a homosexual man whorecognizes his biological gender and recognizing cultural idioms that provides its kind depending on where you are. That is why we must not confuse homosexuality with transformism, transvestite, and transsexual, where these are not accepted idiom and try to adopt the opposite gender.

Just as male homosexuality is named, so does the female, it is called lesbianism. This term refers to the island ofLesbos, which today is Mytilene. This association arises because it is in this place where he lived the poet Sappho, who was characterized poor passionate poems to other women and live rhodium of them, giving homosexual reputation.

It has been discussed quite if homosexuality can be considered a disease, which has been controversial, because one can be homosexual neurotic, psychotic, psychopathic or normal as heterosexuals. That is why the World Health organization removed from the list of diseases to this sexual condition, and the North American Association of Psychiatry has filed against corrective therapies, which aim to remedy or prevent homosexuality.

There is a differentiation into homosexuality, which is known as:

-Ego dystonic: in this the person has conflicts with hishomosexual, at suffering.

- Ego syntonic: Is in which the person takes it as a lesson and enjoys with her, without feeling some kind of disease.

Because of this we can say that a homosexual, as they are known to people who have this sexual orientation is simply a person with a different sexual orientation to others and holding his convictions as heterosexuals to through marriage or justadventure.

How arises?
Although many investigations have not been made aware of the causes of a person's sexual orientation, but if you have managed to deduce some aspects related to the topic.

Some theories say that sexual orientation is innate in us at birth, although it is not yet known is the role that genetics, experiences during development, the relationship with parents and family, amongothers, in sexual orientation.

Some scientific studies by Dr. Alfred C. Kinsey find that to analyze the behavior of the population as identity, most seem to have at least some tendency bisexual, but preferred one sex or another.
