You have just graduated from San Agustin University (UNSA), School of System Engineering, and found a job as system analyst in Customized System Innovation Private Limited (thereafter terms as CSI). CSI is an Information Technology (IT) Solutions and OutsourcingServices Company incorporated in 2000 by a group of professionals with extensive experience in the IT industry. The objective of the company is to provide excellent and high quality Information technology services to its clients in the area of healthcare and hospital management system. The growing importance of high-end top of the line healthcare and hospital management system triggered CSI togather and fully establish its initiative to create one of the most reliable solutions in Asia. CSI strives hard to provide truly reliable software that is well developed and will save every client's time and investment. While managing today's IT environment is becoming quite a head twisting job, multiplied by the variety of platforms (be it applications or networks) every vendor is offering, CSIhopes to be every client's partner by attempting to provide tailored systems to different clients’ needs. CSI's strategy revolves on helping its existing partners and future alliances to take advantage of the distributed enterprise computing technology to add value to their businesses. CSI has a pool of certified Software Engineering professionals offering professional advices and work for every need.With such strength, CSI hopes to offer not only reliable software and professionals but also an added advantage of unlimited knowledge and support. CSI has recently tendered for and awarded the contract to deliver a Hospital Management System (HMS) for Temasek Healthcare Private Limited. You and 5 other colleagues have been tasked to handle the project. The client requires you to develop the HMSunder the Java platform. As this platform is relatively new to CSI, the company CSI can offer very little technical help to you. Despite the odds, you are aware that this is your first project in the company and the output from the system development will largely determine whether you can pass the probation. In view of this, you and the other teammates are determined to master Java collaborativelyand independently as well as to deliver a good and working HMS.

Temasek Healthcare Private Limited (thereafter THPL) is a profit organization registered in Arequipa that strives to be the premier tertiary healthcare provider of choice in Arequipa and the South America region. As THPL is a profit driven company, the business focus has always beenserving the top 30% of the income earners in the region. THPL is targeting at patients of average household yearly income USD 80,000.00. The average gross price tag for 3-day non-operation 5 based stay in the hospital is USD 5, 800.00.

Temasek hospital is projected to become one of the largest and most luxurious hospitals in the world. Located at the Cayma side, Temasek hospital is expected toreceive its first patient by early July 2007. With its opening, Temasek hospital will be a first choice medical and healthcare service in South America, which provides patients and customers with first-class accommodations, medical care and medical consultation. Being situated next to the integrated resort, 10 minutes walking distance to central business district and 30 minutes drive from downtownArequipa, Temasek hospital will be the most accessible first-class hospital in Arequipa. To distinguish Temasek hospital from the local public hospitals and neighboring countries’ hospitals and maximizes the revenue, Temasek hospital seeks to provide premium healthcare services to 8 out of the top 10 patient conditions of hospitalization in Arequipa.
