HOW TO MAKE ICE CREAM AT HOME EASY(Ice And Salt Experiment & Thermal Insulators) SCIENCE EXPERIMENT

This experiment shows you how to make ice cream right at home you can have a treat thatbeats the heat!

Objective: To understand the freezing point of ice and thermal insulators.

Thought Starters
Ask these questions before you begin:

What is the freezing point of water?A: 32 degrees Fahrenheit or 0 degrees Celsius

What is the freezing point of salt water?

A: It depends on how salty it is.

Is the freezing point of salt water warmer or colder than plainwater?

A: Colder

What happens when you put salt on ice, like on an icy road in winter?

A: The salt melts the ice.

So why do we mix salt with ice to freeze ice-cream?

A:Let’s make it and find out!

~ 2 - 3.8L zipping bags
~ 1 - sandwich bag
~ 250mls of Half & Half
~ Powdered Sugar
~ Vanilla
~ Ice
~ Salt

Step 1) Get a 3.8L plastic zipping bag andalternate putting in ice cubes and a layer of salt.

Step 2) Fill your sandwich bag with 250mls of Half & Half and then add 6 spoon of powdered sugar. Then zip it shut.

Step 3) Now place your icecream baggy inside a second 3.8L plastic zipping bag and place this bag of ice.

Step 4) Now wrap this with a towel and then shake this for 20-30MINS or until the mixture is hard.

Step 5) Removethe ice cream from the bags get a spoon and enjoy your homemade ice cream.

Normally water freezes at 0 degrees C how ever salt water freezes at a lower temperature which is good for making icecream. As the ice melts in the bag the salt dissolves in the melted water. Since the salt adds more molecules to the water, the ice can’t capture the water molecules to freeze them. This causes thefreezing point of water to go down 2 about -4 digresses C and refreezes the water. The milky mixture freezes because the ice steals heat energy from milky mixture. With salt in the ice this does causes...
