Syria, A Protesting Country

Syria is a small country in Africa, where people protest against Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad's regime.
President BasharAl-Assad graduated from the medical school of the University of Damascus in 1988, and started to work as a physician in the army. He assumed his position in July 17 2000.He’s known to be very conflictive.The most well known is the Arab-Israeli conflict.
The people of Israel (also called the "Jewish People") trace their origin to Abraham, who established the belief that there is only one God; thecreator of the universe (see Torah). Abraham, his son Yitshak (Isaac), and grandson Jacob (Israel), are referred to as the patriarchs of the Israelites. All three patriarchs lived in the Land ofCanaan, when later came to be known as the Land of Israel. Their wives and them are buried in the Ma'arat HaMachpela, the Tomb of the Patriarchs, in Hebron (Genesis Chapter 23).
Human Rights groups,such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have detailed how Bashar's government and secret police routinely torture, imprison, and kill political opponents, and those who speak outagainst the government.
There was an article on Human Rights First called “Syria: Free Peaceful Activists, Journalists, Aid Workers in Amnesty” that talk about a guy was arrested for his participationin the protests against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime, this shows how bad they are in terms in respecting people.
Furthermore, Syria has been wrecked by violence, with an estimatedof 19,000 people, mostly civilians, killed since the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad began some 18 months ago.
In the other hand, Syria has recently made some progress by releasinghundreds of political prisoners since 1998. However, Syrian law still criminalizes peaceful expression and association, and censors newspapers and other media. Emergency law granting widespread powers...
