Hunger around the world
A large proportion of the world's population has often experienced severe hunger. In many cases this resulted from disruptions to the food supply caused by war, plagues or adverse weather changes. For the first few decades after World War II, technological progress and enhanced political cooperation suggested it might be possible to substantially reduce the number ofpeople suffering from hunger, now this is caused because the lack of money in all the countries.
Today this is a huge problem around the world and there are only a few persons that take care about it, the right to food is one of the principles proclaimed in 1948 by the Universal Declaration of Human Right, it is the right of every person to have continuous access to the resources necessary toproduce, purchase enough food not only to prevent hunger, but also to ensure health and well-being, but now there are about 925 million people in different countries lack access to enough food for everyone, “with a child dying every six seconds because of undernourishment problems, hunger remains the greatest tragedy and the world's biggest scandal” said FAO Director-General Jacques Diouf.
Hunger is athreat not only to the lives of people, but also for their dignity. A severe and prolonged lack of food causes the body's deterioration, apathy, loss of social respect, indifference and sometimes even cruelty towards the weak, especially children and the elderly.
Hunger and malnutrition are in fact the number one risk to the health worldwide, greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.Hunger does not only weigh on the individual. It also imposes a crushing economic burden on the developing world. Economists estimate that every child whose physical and mental development is stunted by hunger and malnutrition stands to lose 5-10 percent in lifetime earnings.
Unfortunately the results of all these statistics reflect the situation as moving companies blameless suffering politicalproblems between nations and leaders who do not stop to think, and less become sensitized to all causes in those societies that lack of support. We think that we cannot do anything against the government but that is not true, there are many options to tell the authorities what we think about the problems and propose them solutions, ma can send a letter with our opinion.
If we talk about hunger wemust not let our thoughts fly to African countries, not get carried away as real scenes showing us through stories that are done, because without going so far, in our country there is also this problem as we realize that we do not lack food here but we are lacking something very important that affects a large portion of society, that is the lack of money to buy them, this as a result of the lackof jobs that will allow them to receive a fair pay, giving them the opportunity to overcome this huge problem.Now a day we are in times of crisis around the world, as it affects the world powers, it affects the underdeveloped countries where there is the largest number of undernourished people, trough the years many people fight against the hunger, unfortunately there are so many people with this problem that looks impossible to do, but like Abuo Shah said “World hunger is a terrible symptom of world poverty. If efforts are only directed at providing food, or improving food production or distribution, then the structural root causes would still remain”.
But we as young people should not perceive this problem as unresolved, it is important that we become aware of each of the factors that originate it and in the future when we are partof a productive society, we are going to be very committed to contribute to this, we are gonna be able to support those who need it most.
