Ian Curtis como Poeta Maldito
Ian Curtis fue un músico Británico, conocido como el líder, cantante y compositor del grupo “Joy Division”. Padeció de epilepsia y depresión, y se suicidó el 18 deMayo, de 1980. Se caracterizaba por su voz grave, estilo de baile (el cual evocaba ataques epilépticos), y composiciones repletas de imágenes de desolación, vacío y aislamiento.
Curtis mostró desde muyjoven su gran interés y habilidad por la literatura y poesía. Logró entrar en The King’s School con una beca a los 11 años; no obstante, nunca fue un alumno dedicado a sus estudios. Al paso de losaños, sus deseos y ambiciones se fueron dirigiendo al arte de la música.
Ian era muy introspectivo y proyectaba su angustia y depresión en sus letras, como en canciones semejantes a “She’s LostControl”, “Disorder”, “The day of the lords”, “Love will tear us apart” entre otras. Las principales influencias de Curtis fueron los escritores William Burroughs y JG Ballard, en los que dos títulos de lascanciones se refieren a estos autores en "Interzone" y "Atrocity Exhibition".
