Length: 5-10 minutes
Aim: - to break the ice
Materials: a blackboard and some chalk
Anticipated problems: - students may be shy or unwilling to take part inthe activity
Possible solutions: - encourage the students to ask questions by giving them hints and awarding them
Assumptions: - in general students will find the icebreaker interestingInteraction: Semicircle
Procedure:
- On the blackboard write or draw 10 different things connected with yourself.
- Explain to the students these are things related with you in many different ways.- Tell them to guess what they mean by asking questions which you could answer “yes” or “no”. - Explain that everyone has to ask a question and that the students should do it one after the other.So, basically the first student asks a question, then the second one, the third, the forth, once again the first and so on. The student who guesses the biggest number of things wins!

Materials:20 cards with different words – the funniest/strangest the better - for example “ hen, meerkat, Allen keys …
Anticipated problems: - some of the students may be shy to speak
Possible solutions: -start yourself
- Ask if anyone would like to start
- If necessary ask particular individuals to start
Assumptions: - the students will find the activity amusing
Interaction: Students walkingaround the classroom / Semicircle
Procedure:
- before the lesson starts hang the cards around the classroom
- at the beginning of the lesson you should introduce yourself and say a bit moreabout yourself
- then explain to the students that you want them to get to know each other and you want them to walk around the classroom and find words that would be somehow connected with them or...
