Antes de afrontar un trabajo sobre el Imperialismo, es necesario definir este concepto y conocer las repercusiones que estemovimiento tuvo en todo el mundo, consecuencias que llegan hasta nuestros días.
Según la Real Academia Española, el Imperialismo es la tendencia de un Estado a la expansión territorial y económica, reuniendo pueblos cultural y étnicamente diferentes bajo su autoridad.
Sin embargo, históricamente esta palabra adquiere una nueva definición. El imperialismo es un fenómeno vinculado la mayoría de lasveces al colonialismo. Existen imperios desde la Antigüedad, aunque fue en el s. XIX cuando llegó a su culminación tanto a nivel doctrinal como de la realidad de la formación de imperios coloniales justificados por razones raciales, culturales y económico- sociales.
