b.- Nicholas Pike wrote in 1788 a book named “A new and complete system of Arithmetic composed for use of citizens of the United States”. He also published in 1793 a smaller work named “An abridgement of the new and complete Arithmetic composed for the use, and the adapted to the commerce of the citizens ofUnited States for use of schools, and will be found to be an Easy and sure guide to the scholar” where he omitted the logarithms but in later editions, he added the study of logarithms as important part of the Arithmetic. He also was one of the most important people and secured recommendations to teachers of Yale, Harvard and Dartmouth. The governor of Massachusetts and even Washington received a copyof his books.
c.- Horace Mann is known as a great educator reformer. He thought that public schools was one of the best alternatives to make students became more effectively and disciplined. He was the first Secretary of the Board of Education of Massachusetts. He worked with the teachers and went to every school he could to see the problems the schools had in that time. He found a Journal andwent to Prussia to see the differences between American Schools and European Schools. He made Massachusetts adopt the Prussian Model of education that became part of some other states in the United States. He also wrote some works being really important for the education in those days.

d.- Pestalozzi is an important part of Education Structure nowadays. He had revolutionary and modern principles of education which became essential part of the schools he founded in Switzerland. He believed that intuition and every part of a child’s life become essential in the formation ofcharacter, personality and reason.
“Learn by head, hand and hearth” is his famous motto that is one of the main principles of schools in 21st Century. He is one of the first people who believed that family is one of the most important spheres of education.
e.- Froebel.- He was one of the students of Pestalozzi and he created the concept of Kindergarten and was one of the developers of moderneducation. He believed that children have special needs and capabilities. He also created the Froebel Educational gifts that motivate students with forms and shapes to learn and he thought that the best education is to let the child to play.
f.-Francis Wayland Parker was known because he was a pioneer of the progressive school movement. He was against standardization, isolated drill and rote learning.He also worked to create a Curriculum based in the child and a strong language background.
g.-The case of Brown vs. Topeka is known because was the most important anti-segregation case in the United States, it stated that all children have the opportunity of studying doesn’t matter which race they are. It was a well-known case where parents of African-American children where against theimposition that White and Black children should study separated because they were not the same. It had important people against it and even principals of important schools like University of Alabama and Florida Governor Thomas LeRoy where against the court’s decision. This was one of the main decisions for the implementation of the interracial schools.
