Good Morning everyone a book called In the Time of the Butterflies written by Julia Alvarez which was adapted to a film in 2001. It is a novel based on a truehistory on the 1949 when Dominican Republic was under the dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo which period begin on 1930-1963. During his period the country was under a smart men was knew how to kill and makesilence everyone who was not according to his decision. No democracy, no freedom, just the Boss Power.
Now, that we know a little bit about Rafael Trujillo let’s talk about The Mirabal Sister,three sister that did fight for their country leaving back their own families.
On February 27, 1924 was born the first of the Mirabal sisters, Patria Mercedes. Call this way due to being this day ofNational Independence. She married young and had three children.
She was followed by Minerva Argentina, born two years later, on March 12. She married a well-known political leader, and had two children.Next, Maria Teresa was born on October 15, 1935. Being the most faithful fan of his sister Minerva, who has followed the steps. She married and had a daughter.
All daughters of Henry and Mercedes(Chea). The father was a farmer and merchant, who as a child grew and developed as a prosperous businessman in Salcedo. His wife, and mother of the sisters, came from a wealthy family.
On October 12,1949, at a party held in San Cristobal, celebrating the America Discovered, Minerva and Trujillo had their first meeting. In this activity, they exchanged words face to face, but then, she left theparty with her family, which was not allowed to make that when Trujillo had not left yet. Because of this slight, Trujillo ordered the next day to seize her family including Don Enrique and her motherMinerva.
The following years, Trujillo suspecting a situation of opposition from the family Mirabal-Reyes, makes them arrested on numerous occasions and keep them under constant surveillance. Caution...
