Paraguayan Foundation provides loans and training topeople with disabilities

ASUNCION, April 13, 2012. - "When you talk about people with disabilities, people generally tend to fall onto discrimination" reflects Lucas Vera, regional south manager ofFundación Paraguaya, he also adds that this institution aims to guarantee a more inclusive society, even in regards to financial tools and training. Thus, since last year, Fundación Paraguaya works with200 clients with disabilities by providing loans ranging from Gs. 200,000 up to higher amounts and training them on issues such as savings, entrepreneurship, new business models, strategies and more.It´s worth to mention that the Paraguayan Foundation does not offer a differentiated product for people with disabilities, but as same as with others, therefore it opens the opportunity foreveryone to get loans and training when they need it. According to testimony from several people with disabilities, this reality has been denied to them in many other financial institutions.

"We also seekto create alliances with other organizations that are bound to work with people with disabilities to provide more tools and opportunities for them," said Vera. Such is the case that FundaciónParaguaya works with Fundación Solidaridad, Parigual, Fundación Visión and international organizations that provide wheelchairs to donate, for example.

In the case of wheelchairs, is intended thatthrough them we can discover where these people are, who often live hidden in their homes and even more in rural areas. Once they are found, we work with those who want us to; aiming to dignify them andgive them a better quality of life.
