Indirec Question

Indirect questions.
An indirect question is made up of a polite expression and sentences as affirmative.
We do not begin a question directly, they begin with expressions like:
* Can you tellme…?
* Do you know…?
* Could you tell me…?
This is the form we have to follow:
Information question:
Polite expression + Wh-word + subject + verb + complement +?
Example:
* Where is thebank? (Direct question)
* Could you tell me where the bank is? (Indirect question)
Auxiliaries: do, does or did.
If the direct question contains do, does or did, we omit it in the indirectquestion and we have to modify the verb where is necessary.
* Direct question: what do you want?
* Indirect question: can you tell me what you want? (el verbo no cambia porque el auxiliar omitido nomodifica el verbo)
* Direct question: when did she leave?
* Indirect question: do you know when she left? (el verbo ha cambiado porque cuando omito el auxiliar se modifica a pasado)
*Direct question: where does your father work?
* Indirect question: could you tell me where your father works? (el verbo cambio a tercera persona singular cuando se omite el auxiliar)
Yes/noquestions.
In yes/no questions, we use “if” as the connector:
* Direct question: have you seen my dog?
* Indirect question: could you tell me if you have seen my dog? (la única diferencia con las deinformación es que no usamos una Wh-word como conector si no que el adverb “if”).

* How is that dish made?
* Could you tell me how that dish is made?
* Does she know how to bake a cake?* Can you tell if she knows how to bake a cake?
* Why does armand like to prepare banana pies?
* Do you know why armand likes to prepare banana pies?
