Industrial Revolution

Causes:
• A growth in demand, probably as a result of the growth in population, but also because of the opening up of the export market.
• Technologicalchange and innovation (the use of machinery)
• The use of unskilled, cheap labor, by the introduction of machinery
• A move to bigger units of production - the factory system.
• A change inlocation, away from south east of England. The first factories were situated in the hills of Lancashire and Yorkshire near to fast-flowing streams, which could power the water-wheels. With the inventionof the steam engine, however, factories were sited on the coalfields of the north of England and Scotland.
• Improvements in transport road and canals.
Characteristics:
Rise of automobileindustry, quicker forms of transportation, the skyscrapers and the factory of the urbanization of the train of the steam motor of the boat of the steam based works. Decrease in mortality rates, adeclining age at marriage, a marked growth in population, and an increasing rate of migration from rural to urban areas. The escalating numbers of people who came to the rapidly expanding urban areas providedmuch of the labor force for the new manufacturing industries, and formed the basis of a new industrial working class. An agricultural revolution improved farming techniques.
